Vimy: A Living Memorial

Vimy: A Living Memorial is a digital pilgrimage where remembrance and contemplation come together through more than a century of testimony. In this immersive, non-linear narrative, where each stop offers a new perspective on war-related events, users are invited to browse through video, audio and written testimonies of civilians and military personnel, from the First World War to the Canadian mission in Afghanistan. These testimonies are randomly interwoven within nine themes inspired by the statues that adorn the Canadian National Vimy Memorial.

The tour ends with an invitation to users to leave their own written or audio testimony to enrich our collective history. A rich soundtrack and a slow navigation add an extra dimension to the experience, which is contemplative while being educational.
